BRIEF REPORT ON SYNW CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP (2ND PHASE)

On the 28^th of September 2013, the Society of Young Nigerian Writers held its 2013 Creative Writing Workshop (2^nd Phase) at the Amphi-Theatre, University of Ibadan.

Invited Guest Speakers who delivered lectures are:

·        Mr. Charles Akinsete (A Lecturer in the English Department at the University of Ibadan) who represented Mr. Adewale Oshodi lectured on Arts Journalism – Book Review, Covering Literary Events and Conducting Literary Interviews.

·        Mr. Olajide – (Human Resource Officer – RASMED PUBLICATIONS) – gave a lecture on “Book Publishing, Distribution and Marketing”.

·        Mr. Muyiwa Ojo –- Head of General Studies Department at the Polytechnic of Ibadan – The Incumbent Chairman of the Polytechnic of Ibadan Writers Forum also gave a lecture note on the Styles and Aesthetics of Prose Writing

·        Dr. (Mrs.) Jegede – A Chief Lecturer at the Polytechnic of Ibadan gave another educative lecture on the  Styles and Economy of Words in Poetry.

·        Hon. Sola Akande – Former Principal Editor at Heinemann Publishers, but presently is the Managing Director of Yew Books and an honorable board member at the Council for Arts, Information and Tourism Board of Oyo State also tutored participants on the Fundamentals of Books Publishing, Distribution and Publishing.

·        Mr. Adeyemi from Cosmopolitan Publishers gave an edifying lecture on Manuscript Assessment and Editing.

The workshop started at 12:30 PM and ended by 6:00PM with a closing remark said by Dr. Aderemi Adedokun (former H.O.D of the Theatre Arts Department, University of Ibadan).
